Here you go, "nostromo"...

I'll be glad to post a copy of the CD if you would like...  just PM me an address, and I'll get it on the way.

FYI... there have been two updates since my tests...  V1.02 and V1.03 of the firmware.

I have the Bot on my 500 now (are you keeping up with this stuff?  *smile*)... and tested the flying with the original V1.01 firmware that I did the above with...  I just updated the Bot with V1.02 firmware to test the "beginner" mode... but the weather has been really bad lately (no flying) and I received the notice for the V1.03 update...  and I have it now from the site.  So, instead of testing a back level version...  I'll update it to V1.03 and give *that* a go...  *smile*  I attached the new manual.

Hey Leap,
great articles about the Gyrobot. I like the German precision about this little wonder box.
I looked at German forums also and found some neat stuff there, but most of them fly V-Stabi.

I have ordered the newest Gyrobot 900 for my T-Rex 500 and it is on backorder.
Are you willing and able to give me the the settings for your T-Rex 500?
I know they are different from what I'll have probably (different servos, mechanical setup etc.) but it would be comfortable to lean on your shoulder  Embarrassed a little bit here.
From what I see and read in your various articles you are really going into things with the right attitude and the proper tools. (Hey that's your professional background I suppose)

One other thing. I looked into the Robart pitch meter. You mentioned that you used it. Is this one a recommended one or are there others/better ones on the market. The Robarts goes only up to +/-10 deg.

Thanks in advance!!

I posted the settings for the 500 in it's thread... and lean away.  I'll be glad to help anyway I can.  It's why we're here!  Thumbs Up

Yeah, the robart is limiting...  but thanks to an idea from Malcolm (aka MALC1) in this thread: http://www.thetrexforums.com/?topic=4935.0  I've extended the range pretty much unlimited.  It works remarkably well (and easy to zero with the mechanical movement of the robart)...  and getting the frame level as a reference is now a piece of cake.  BTW, it also shows how really accurate the robart is within it's range... they follow each other very nicely.

Whhhaauuu, Shocked
that's a nice gadget, the Wixey.
Didn't know that something like this exists. And still affordable.
That's perfect for a flybarless setup.
Thanks for the tip.
This forum gives me more in two weeks than the three hobby shops I am going to for parts. laughing

But I am still waiting for my Gyrobot. . .

Leap, impressive, I am new to the GyroBot, I had a SK 360 on my Trex 450 with Hitec 5065 mg at 6.0V which the SK 360 did a perfect job on piro.

I replaced the SK 360 with the GyroBot and I loved it before maiden, everything was easy only when it come to piro, the Trex wondering around crazy.... I tried the optimization and threshold but no luck, well, I am not good in this yet, so what should I do to get this fixed?  I really love the Bot only this

Hummm...  I'll have to work through this with you a bit at a time... first of all, I think I am reading that you are using the Bot on a 450?  Correct?  (Remember, in my write-up on the Bot, I mentioned a thing called "inertia" - which has *everything* to do with mass... and I have only tried the Bot on a 600 and a 500)... so we'll need to back up a bit.

I really want to help...  and I'd be very interested in your findings... so first of all, what are your settings as it sits now?

Yes, it is a 450 with 5065 MG Hitec servo at 6.0V, so speed is quick fast.  The Gyro Bot sits directly under the main rotor... what else should I tell you.

I did read through the whole thread but that is a bit technical for me to understand.  I will spend some time on that again ...

Thanks

Just tell me what your settings are...   the menu settings on the Bot...  (and sorry about the technical stuff...  but there are those that want the "details", and it is difficult to post for *everyone*)...  *smile*

No worries...  we'll get it sorted ... Thumbs Up

Leap, I went through the technical stuff again, luck I have degree in computer science and know a bit of calculus even I am a cop now... hahaha.

Well, here are my settings, let's not look into the bases, I think... so the rudder and cyclic.

Rudder:
P: 450
I: 565
Elev:
P: 520
I: 600
Elev Feedback: 8
Ail:
P: 370
I: 445
Feedback: 10

I started these with the basic setup from the manual and still in the process of tuning, then I saw your post suggesting to pick a similar size setting from the manual, so I think I will take the 11 because it use 360 blades, a bit closer, only that it has a high P than I in rudder.  I copy that to the third set up so I will take off in the one I posted above and switch to the one suggested for 11.  I will see what happens next week.

Please tell me what you think about my current set up, it is flying fine only the piro is far from satisfactory.

LOL!  Glad it's been useful... Now for something funny.  The testbed 600 has been stripped of the Vbar (which is at V4.0 firmware - great upgrade as it makes things "easier" to set up)... and is being fitted with the AC-3X... I've redone the software setup on my "homegrown" flybarless setup, and it's flying like it always wanted to (works a treat).  The Vbar?  It's on my newly finished Logo 600...  3/5ths of my 600's are now "straight-legged"... and half of my 500's...  I like 'em either way, as long as I can get 'em to fly the same (or better).

The GyroBot is still on "Vixen" (the 500 - where I moved it from the testbed).  She's got like a zillion flights on her, and is going strong.  The latest firmware (very few updates, actually) is where you want to be.  I've got lot's of data... and will post when I get a chance...  One thing I've noticed.  The setup is a bat-killer... not because of the setup or electronics consumption... it's because I've taken to flying with music lately...  and I don't always pay attention to the timer (my bad).  I've stretched a few 6S 2500mAh's *way* beyond their limits... some have survived.  Others... well, they get the connector clipped and a salt bath.  *grin*  No one to blame but me.

Post your Gyrobot experiences... it's a nice little box... and it seems to just keep going and going...  like the energizer bunny...
