I was wondering if anyone knows of a source (preferably in Europe somewhere) where you can get a crimping tool and the actual M/F pins, as used in standard RC servo plugs by Futaba and most other RC companies.

I think the pins themselves are fairly generic as you can usually swap plugs for most brands of servos, but what I'm really interested in is the actual metal contacts & the correct crimp tool, not the entire plug assembly.  The reason is it would be nice to shorten & tidy up excessively long servo wires without soldering either the contacts or internally at the servo, as this is so much effort.  All these years involved in RC stuff, and I've no idea if the pins & tool are available separately.....anyone know of a supplier?

 Huh

p.s. I wasn't sure whether to place this in RC or Misc. Electronics, as it could be either perhaps?

Hey Guys,
its no problem to get one... but the good once are a little expensive!!
We have one from Muldental in our shop and this one works great (40,- or 50,- €) Hmm?

Oh, ta very much.  Those contacts from Hansen look just the job, exactly what I'm looking for.  I'll have a look at the other link too Pitko so thanks also.  I allways get charged import duty for stuff from the US but never from the EU member countries, but I'd still definitely be interested.  It sure beats individually soldering every single lead for 4 servos, & 2 for the gyro.  My 450's wiring is a mess and I really want to shorten everything and straighten it out.

If you get charged import duty from the U.S baggers and you want some, why dont we combine the order, get it shipped to me and then I can forward it on to you.

I dont know how much the import duty is for you,it may be cheaper though than the postage to Austria from here.
Sy will have a better idea than most on the postage Smiley

Thanks jamin, I would be interested in a combined order.  I'm not sure how we could work it out but I still have access to UK accounts, so I can still send money in GBP as well as Euros.  I'll have to think tonight about what I want plug-wise, I also use the 4mm plug & sockets so might be in for some of those too.

Something I've just noticed on the Hansen website, the connectors are just 0.1' pitch contacts, nothing more!  The type of pins that are used everywhere in stuff like PC's on things like IDE etc.  The only difference with RC stuff is it's usually smaller contacts like 3-pin servo.  In other words my local electronic shops might have them by the bucketfull, and I never new they were the same!

Some more investigation is required I think, I'll get back to you later jamin.

Yep the tool from Hansen looks very good...
I checked the price from the other tool (59,90 €) and I have to say the Hansen tool
looks just a littlebit better.  Thumbs Up
I think the price doesn't make any difference...  with tax and shipment it wood be nearly the same... Hmm?
