Straight to the point...we're changing the forum's name!
We're going to be called:
RC Heli Planet
WHY?Over the past few years we've grown very well. In fact...bigger than most at our age. We've tirelessly supported the Align range exclusively (all of us including you) and it's been fun. From hunting down the latest news to unintentionally helping the hysteria surrounding each of their new models...we've been there for Align RC.
However, now we're seeing more and more
fantastic brands coming to the market that deserve our support too. And we need to grow in order to discuss these helis.
Whilst we have played a major part in Align's acceptance in the big heli market since the 600E we feel there has been a massive shift in good quality brands available in the heli world and we feel hanging our hat solely on Align products isn't a wise move anymore. Do we still love Align helis? HELL YEH! There is no reason to think otherwise. And this forum will obviously
still be very much T-Rex rich.
This has nothing to do with Align or anything negative towards them...it's about broadening our appeal.
OK, BUT WHY THAT NAME?Putting it simply...we're completely international and we want to reflect this. Also having NET on the end doesn't hurt! But seriously...it's been a very well thought out change.
SO WHAT WILL CHANGE?Nothing much really. Our brand will very much stay in the same style and tone of voice.
The logo will stay the same during the change-over with only the text changing (this is very important in order to keep familiarity). In time we will completely change it but that won't be for a long while. *EDIT: It's been updated! Whilst keeping the feel of the old it's now fresher (see below).
The forum layout will slightly change with categories moving around in order to fit a lot of the different models. Each T-Rex model will still have it's own section of course. In fact...this change will have zero impact on our members who love the T-Rex (eh...that'll be all of us then!).
WHEN?Well, this is more complex than you may think. But thetrexforums.com url will continue to point here. You'll just be asked to update your bookmarks when we do the change. There's a lot of work to relink this and that to the new url (rcheliplanet.com) but I will let you all know when it's happening. We won't be down for very long to be honest (touch wood). Once done there will still be loads of work to clean everything up but this shouldn't effect you.
Hopefully by the end of April we will be sorted (should take no longer the 1 hour when we do it).
BUT I'LL MISS MY T-REX HOME!Don't worry...it'll still be here and as popular as ever. You'll just have some new friends to share with.
SO ALL IN ALL A GOOD THING?Yep! This isn't change for change sake. It's important and in no way is it turning our back on any product. It's the opposite...it's welcoming all of the others. Our attitude is unique here...from the Mods to the members we all understand respect and sharing without looking down on those who are new to the hobby or those who don't know everything. We also understand being open and truthful is the only way to help us all learn. Be it positive or negative reviews etc.
So, get ready and don't worry...
